We’ve been exploring how to successfully set New Years resolutions, so that you can reach th goals you want for your life!

In this sixth post of the series, we’re going to talk about one more idea!


That idea: Set Goals on Process Not Ending

What does that mean?

An example will help make it clear. Let’s say your goal is to be able to run 5 miles. Instead of focusing on that as your goal, how about redefining your goal to say, “I’m going to go running 3 days per week.” Instead of your goal being to lose 30 lbs, how about, “I’m going to eat Paleo meals 5 days per week.” Your goal is around the process not the end point.

The advantage to this are two fold. First, as we’ve mentioned before our rational side needs specifics. A goal of going to the gym 3 days per week is a very specific goal. That passes our test. Second, our emotions need quick wins. With this goal, each week you are able to get a win. Did you go to the gym 3 days this week? Did you eat your meals 5 days this week? Yes. That’s a win for you!
