The use of science has expanded our knowledge as human beings many times over.
And science needs to be taken in context and used properly.
Many people are confused by medical science in the media, and end up throwing up their hands in confusion. Are eggs good? Or bad?
One of the weakness of the natural health community at large is a lack of understanding of science and the positive things it can offer us.
Don’t throw the baby out with the bathwater, understand science so you can reap the benefits it gives us.
These two video presentations are a good start in educating yourself about understanding scientific claims in the media.
Tom Naughton’s talk, Science for Smart People, is about 45 minutes long, and extremely worth watching. I attended his talk at the Ancestral Health Symposium on this subject and was very impressed.
If you don’t have the time for a full talk, or want more, watch Ben Goldacre, MD’s 15 minute talk, Battling Bad Science. He also has a good book by the same name.
